D-UB GUIDE
How to generate and add video subtitles
Generate captions from speech in a video, then choose a subtitle file or visible captions in the video.
Reviewed
Before you start
- Sign in and upload a video you may process, or supply a supported public link.
- Know whether you need original, translated or bilingual captions and whether the player supports subtitle files.
- Review the quote before confirming paid processing.
Generate captions
- In Studio, add the source and choose Subtitles under Processing mode.
- Choose Original language and Target language. Select original, translated or bilingual subtitle text as appropriate.
- Review the subtitle rendering and style controls. Classic keeps a conventional appearance; word highlight, progressive words and bold phrases offer other presentations.
- Set the colors, typography and position offered for the chosen style. For animated styles, choose subtitle files only or burned-in video; soft MP4 requires Classic. Burned-in video keeps the appearance consistent.
- Click Create job, review the quote and confirm when ready.
- Open delivered outputs and review reading warnings, cue timing, punctuation and contrast. Download the SRT, styled VTT or video outputs available for your selection.
Expected result
SRT remains conventional text with timestamps. VTT appearance depends on the player. Burned-in captions are visible in the video and cannot be switched off like a separate subtitle track.
A practical check
Use a short recording you own. Compare one fast phrase and one pause in the original against the captions. For translated text, inspect meaning as well as timing; word-level animation can be approximate.
Troubleshooting
- Animation missing in SRT: choose a burned-in video or use VTT in a compatible player.
- Reading warning: inspect the cue in context; completion does not clear the need for review.
- Subtitles absent from a dub: confirm they were enabled when the Dub or Voice Clone job was created.
